Crickets and a Friendly Bird

One of the things you forget about when you live in a big city (e.g. Milwaukee, WI in our case) is sounds of things OTHER than drunken 22-year-olds hanging of balconies and loud, old-school vehicles with barely hanging on mufflers used best for cruising. But, here in our big yummy backyards we have crickets. They seem to like to sing us to sleep at night. I'm not complaining.

Yesterday morning I had a weird interaction with an additional member of the wildlife family. Who knows what kind of bird it was -- I do not claim any real knowledge of winged species. However, it's lovely chirping woke me up after sleeping through my alarm. It's like the little bird was watching out for me.

So far the wildlife is treating us well in Missouri. We won't talk about the monsterous spiders we discovered when we tore out their habitat (e.g. the biggest bundle of weeds West of the Mississippi that happened to be taking over our front yard). And, the Hubs reminds me of the wasps that got us both. I seem to have repressed that memory of move-in week.
